Dry blood spots and dry urine spots should be placed in a plastic bag and placed together with our completed requisition form in airmail envelope or courier service special envelopes. This material can be mailed at ambient temperature by express mail. Regular mail can be used if there is no urgency for obtaining the results, although we do not advise it especially in the hot summer months. Do not use regular mail for critical cases.
Plasma for very long chain fatty acids and phytanic acid determination should be placed in small plastic tubes. The frozen specimen and the requisition form should be enclosed in a sealed plastic bag, and enclosed with a coolant pack in a styrofoam container. This specimen should be sent by courier service.
CSF for glycine determination should be placed in small plastic tubes. The frozen specimen and the requisition form should be enclosed in a sealed plastic bag, and enclosed with a coolant pack in a styrofoam container. This specimen should be sent by courier service.
Liquid urine should be sent frozen in plastic tubes. The frozen sample and the requisition form should be enclosed in a sealed plastic bag, and enclosed with at least 3 kg of dry ice in a large styrofoam container. This specimen should be sent by courier service.
