The
Saudi dishes have been analyzed for their composition of variety of
different nutrients as part of the national nutrition survey sponsored by
KACST. In this project, a need to have a database for traditional Saudi
foods arised as this was not available anywhere else. All
researchers involving dietary and nutrition epidemiologists all over the
Kingdom needed this database. Such a database could have been used to help
all research involving nutritional components towards Saudi population as
well.
Saudi
Food Composition Database Application has been created out of such a
necessity. This application allows researchers to search the database with
the criteria they define out of foods’ names, description, computer codes
and categories. The users can add new food items, food categories and also
change the information associated with them. The application will be on
the intranet for the reach of many users at the same time.
